We Would Also Collect Water Quality Data Consisting Of: Dissolved Oxygen Tests, Salinity, Ph, Temperature and Clarity. Trawls Were Collected As Well. Gps Coordinates Were Input Into Google Maps to Be Used to Determine Barrier Island Erosion and Restoration Progress Over Time. marine Biology: Field Work Primarily Consisted of Collecting Trawls from Boats and Live Specimen Collection Via Seine Nets and Snorkeling Around the Various Barrier Islands Around the Laboratory. These Specimens Were Placed Into Temporary Aquariums in the Lab and We Had to Key Them out for Examination Later.
- Activities and Societies: Student Representative, Mentor to Local Children, Beach Clean-up, Research.a Study Abroad Program Looking at the Primary Resources Important to the Sustainability of Turks and Caicos Islands Fisheries: Queen Conch and Spiny Lobster. Also Covered Were Topics on Coral Bleaching, Artificial Coral Reef Restoration and Socioeconomic Issues Relating to Marine Protected Areas (mpas). We Were Mentors for the Local Children and Participated in Beach Clean-ups and Research. We Learned How to Impliment Mpa Regulations and Assessed a Seagrass Bed for Total Economic Value. We Were in the Field Collecting Data or Identifying Wildlife Each Day We Were There.
