• The Expeditionary Warfare School, Established at Quantico As the Amphibious Warfare School in 1921, Is a Nine-month Course Providing Career-level Professional Military Education, With Emphasis on Combined Arms Operations, Warfighting Skills, Tactical Decision-making and Marine Air Ground Task Forces in Amphibious Operations. It Prepares Marine Captains to Function As Commanders and Staff Officers at Appropriate Levels Within the Operating Forces and Supporting Establishment. in Addition, It Provides Career-level Professional Military Education to Selected Officers from the Marine Corps Reserve.
• The Mission of Abolc Is to Train and Inspire Armor/cavalry Lieutenants in Order to Provide the United States Army With Confident, Competent, and Agile Armor Officer Capable of Conducting Full Spectrum Operations As Part of a Combined Arms Team. Abolc Incorporates a Challenging Training Methodology That Is Experience-based. the Training Students Receive Combines Classroom, Small Group, and Practical Exercise Instruction Designed to Hone Their Leadership Skills and Their Warrior Ethos. This Training Reaches Its Peak During the Capstone Field Training Exercise “the Gauntlet”. Upon Successful Completion of Abolc Students Will Transition to Their Unit of Assignment Ready to Join a Combined Arms Team and Operate in Full Spectrum Operations.
• Mission: Train and Educate Newly Commissioned or Appointed Officers in the High Standards of Professional Knowledge, Esprit De Corps, and Leadership in Order to Prepare Them for Duty As Company Grade Officers in the Operating Forces, With Particular Emphasis on the Duties, Responsibilities and Warfighting Skills Required of a Rifle Platoon Commander. the Most Critical Aspect of Instruction at the Basic School Is the Five Horizontal Themes. They Were Created to Clearly Define the Expectations of Every Student Officer at Tbs. These Themes Are Not Only Taught to the Student Officers at the Basic School, but They Cross All Subordinate Units. the Purpose for This Is Consistency, Unity of Effort and Shared Vision Among All Personnel at Tbs:  a Man or Woman of Exemplary Character  devoted to Leading Marines 24/7  able to Decide, Communicate, and Act in the Fog of War  a Warfighter Who Embraces the Corps's Warrior Ethos  mentally Strong and Physically Tough
