• Activities and Societies: Mizzou Cycling Clubmy Research Primarily Focuses on Using Neutron Scattering Techniques to Study How Water Interacts With Different Cellular Components at the Membrane-water Interface. in the Past We Have Extensively Studied a Variety of Lipid Species and Their Influence on the Hydration Water of Cell Membranes. More Recently We Have Extended These Studies to More Physiologically Relevant Systems by Inserting Proteins Into our Lipid Membranes. I Am Interested in Understanding How the Presence of These Proteins Further Perturbs the Behavior of the Interfacial Water. These Perturbations Can Be Identified by Measuring the Structure, Diffusion, and Vibrational Modes of the Membrane-associated Water.
• While I Was an Undergraduate Physics Major at Rowan University I Had the Opportunity to Participate in a Foreign Exchange Internship Program. During the Spring 2012 Semester I Traveled to Hokkaido University in Japan to Investigate Materials Which Had Shown Promise in Potential Energy Storage Devices. I Learned How to Fabricate, Test and Analyze a Variety of Materials Used in the Hydrogen Storage Field. It Is During This Internship Program That I Became Familiar With the Capabilities of Neutron Scattering. This Program Was Extremely Invaluable to Me and Helped Lay the Foundation for My Studies As a Graduate Student at the University of Missouri.
